Sunshine and Roses and a WINNER!!!!!

The Lazy Daze of Summer ..... Almost Here

Well, for cats, every day is a lazy day. They love the front porch in the mornings when its sunny. Sometimes there's a battle for the right spot. That's Norman, on the left, and Bodecia the "beaudacious babe" on the right. Norman's losing out on the sun, gradually, but he's such a gentleman, isn't he? He just goes right back to sleep. When you're a great hunter, like Norman, you need your rest.

Meanwhile, outside, on a derelict house in our town, a wild, wild rose is having its way with the old thing.....

.....it's climbed in behind the window covering and burst out the top!

It's blooming all over the place!

Joyously!

Intrepidly!

Coyly!

And Fragrantly! It smells like the sweetest of raspberries.

I've collected a cutting of it. Any rose so brave should have a space of its own.
Will it take over my house? Possibly.......

And guess what? We've just drawn a name for the winner of a free pattern from Prairie Cottage Corner and she is.........ta-dah!

!!!!!!Sandra V.!!!!!!

Send me a message, Sandra, and I'll return it with the pattern of your choice from our collection. See the link at the top right of this page for all of our patterns. Just give me the pattern name and it's yours! My email address is on the same page as the patterns.

Congratulations!

  2. What beautiful roses! The color is spectacular and I can almost smell them! I don't get enough sun to grow roses like that.. but I do get enough that the kitties lay in the sun every day too!

    1. The roses this year have been stupendous all over the area. Portland, OR, is the rose city, they say and it rains a lot there. We live in a semi-arid climate. Not much rain. But the roses have been great....prolific.

    1. Thanks, Gert. It WILL be my rose, soon as it sprouts in its little jar in the window here in my kitchen.

  7. Now your kitties have the right idea, Kathie! I would spend my entire summer that way if it weren't for the lure of the garden and sewing! How wonderful that you'll get that rose going again in your own yard! Any rose as tough as that deserves a new place to live!
    Cheers!
